My obsession with Etsy started during the first lockdown of the pandemic. Small businesses were being promoted constantly all over social media platforms, that’s when I started to take notice. During those unprecedented times, small businesses needed our help more than ever so they could survive. However, a lot of us, myself included, relied on Amazon Prime to get us fast deliveries during the lockdown. Yet, I found myself being drawn to Etsy and all the small businesses selling such beautiful, unique and sometimes quirky items.
It’s become a recent love of mine to buy from small businesses. As I said, they need our customs and I love the sellers behind the business. They’ve made a huge success of their small business which deserves a high five in itself. As much as we do like to buy from the big brands, it’s important to remember the small brands too. This is where Etsy comes in. A shopping website where you will discover new small businesses. A place where you can buy directly from the business owner and support them.
There are so many reasons to shop there, here are some of mine:
1) It’s a chance to support small businesses
This shopping website is the greatest way for you to support small businesses online. A chance to buy from them, promote them on social media and recommend them to family and friends. There’s always a small business out there that are selling exactly what you’re looking for, whatever it is.
2) The variety and uniqueness of it
One thing I do love about Etsy is how you find just about anything you want, no matter how quirky. I’ve bought a teacup and saucer (not a set, just one teacup and saucer), Pinterest templates, my cousin’s engagement present and a Gordon’s gin candle. As you do. The unique items or gifts are always the best gifts. Speaking of gifts…

3) It’s perfect for the best gifts
Whether you want a personalised or just something really wacky, Etsy has your back when it comes to the more unique and wild gift ideas. Over the last 12 months, I have bought so many of my family and friends’ birthday/Christmas presents from Etsy and they’re the ones that mean so much to them. I think gift sets are such an easy buy (I’m guilty of buying gift sets as presents), but I think something from Etsy has more meaning behind it.
4) Etsy are so sustainable
Etsy offset 100% of carbon emissions from the delivery and packaging of their products. This gets a big thumbs up from me!

5) It’s value for money
Anything that I have ever bought from Etsy has always been good value for money. The quality of the items I’ve bought has always been top-notch and never disappointed me.
I would love to recommend some small businesses that I’ve bought from on Etsy, but there are so many that I love, I couldn’t possibly choose!
