Spring is here and it really fills my heart with joy. With lighter evenings, blooming flowers, cherry blossoms and the return of leafy trees, Spring feels like the season of new awakenings. They say that Spring is the season of new beginnings, and I totally believe that’s true.
I’ve always been a lover of Spring, it’s a season where I genuinely feel at my happiest. I would go as far as saying that Spring is my favourite season of the year. It makes me feel like I (and everyone else) have made it through the dark depths of Winter. There now feels like a kind of excitement and optimism in the air, which is so unbelievably refreshing.
The weather has a big part to play in our returning positivity and brightness in Spring. You know that better weather is coming. Honestly, I’m not entirely looking forward to melting in 30-degree heat when Summer eventually arrives. But Spring is weather that is a lot more tolerable, even when Spring showers are sprung upon us.
Another reason why Spring feels like a new awakening is that Spring marks the time of year when we have our traditional and customary ‘Spring Clean’. Whether that be sorting our clothes, cleaning the house from top to bottom or getting the garden ready for the warmer months ahead, the Spring Clean is actually an act of Spring I genuinely look forward to. It’s kind of like on New Year’s Eve when you open the door at midnight to let the old year out and let the new year in. Instead, you’re letting Winter out and welcoming Spring in.
Winter brings a lot of the so-called winter blues for me. The only things I enjoy about Winter these days are hot chocolates, oversized jumpers and Christmas. But literally, as soon as January arrives, I am counting down the days to Spring Equinox. The warmer weather and longer days are good for the soul and mental health.
With Spring comes new signs of hope, positivity, renewal, growth and beginnings. Spring symbolises the end of Winter and it’s something I am sure we are all welcoming with open arms. The season of Spring will always be a season of new awakenings.
