I remember there being a time when I barely wore jewellery. Whether it be gold, silver or even rose gold, I never bought it. These days, you won’t catch me leaving the house without wearing a necklace, ring or bracelet. It’s amazing how much jewellery has grown on me and how I can’t wear an outfit without accessorising with jewellery. The metal that is the most dominant in my jewellery box is gold jewellery. I find gold a warmer metal. For me, it’s perfect to wear all year round.
However, some may prefer to wear the cooler tones of silver jewellery – which is completely fine. I do own some lovely silver jewellery, but I don’t wear it as often as gold jewellery. Also, some may not know how to accessorise their jewellery or know which piece looks best to wear with an outfit.
Today, I want to discuss the different ways to co-ordinate and accessorise with gold jewellery.
As I said before, gold jewellery is a metal which some may be a little wary of wearing. But I want to give you some advice, which I’ve learned over the years, on the best ways to accessorise with gold jewellery.
Here are the best ways to accessorise with gold jewellery:
1) Wear it with patterns
Wearing a gold piece of jewellery can really balance out the outfit if you’re wearing a pattern of some sort. It could be a dainty necklace, simple stud earrings or a single bracelet, this can make the outfit from not looking too brash or over the top.
2) Go the opposite when wearing a simple outfit
When opting for a simple, elegant, classy outfit, a statement piece of jewellery can really make the outfit pop and again, can help balance out the outfit. When it comes to a minimalist outfit, let your jewellery do the talking. Let the extra extravagance steal the limelight of your look!
3) Start basic
If you’re new to adding gold jewellery to your outfit, start simple. The best tip I learned over the years is to opt for simpler pieces, nothing too extravagant. Also, when looking for new gold jewellery pieces, look at versatile pieces, basically, ones you can wear every day. Just like these pieces from Ottoman jewellery. The Lorelai Pearl Necklace and the matching Lorelai Pearl Stacking Ring are perfect if you’re starting to wear gold jewellery. Both are beautifully handcrafted and I love the elegance of the pearls, it can make any outfit look so classy. The band on the ring is adjustable and the necklace is very adjustable.
4) Wear gold with colours that compliment
When it comes to clothes, certain colours can make gold jewellery shine. Some should be avoided at all costs. When it comes to gold jewellery, the best colours to wear with gold jewellery are neutrals, blacks, whites and warm beiges. Avoid wearing gold jewellery with brown tops, it doesn’t look nice at all (coming from personal experience).
5) Mix the metals if you would prefer
If you’re a gold and silver fan, then mix it up a bit. Integrating both gold and silver jewellery may be a bit daunting at first. This is something I am still experimenting myself, but I have tried adding gold and silver rings to an outfit – and it does work. The next step for me will be adding gold and silver to the neck area and seeing how that works. Jewellery is all about experimentation, so give it a try, if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. But at least you can say you’ve tried!
I hope you have fun accessorising with your gold jewellery, you may not like gold jewellery now, but it could be your best friend in terms of jewellery – like it has been for me!
