The Hair Boss Products: A Review

Hair products have become a new obsession of mine, along with Etsy, clothes decluttering and pining over Chloe sandals.

I’ve wanted to look after my hair a lot more lately, it needs a little TLC. Using heat on my hair a good few days of the week, it needs a little nourishment.

Recently, I got sent some products from My Hair Boss by Lisa Shepherd. My Hair Boss has a range of hair products for each hair issue, colour and style. Like I said at the beginning, I have a new obsession with hair products and I couldn’t wait to try them out! I got sent the Anti Static Mist, The Clear Shine Gloss (one that I have yet to try) The Scalp Scrub, The Virgin Hair Shampoo and The Conditioning Lotion.

Before writing this review, I wanted to give the products a try so I could give a fair assessment. When trying new products, I always try them a couple of times first before I can really give an honest review, there’s nothing worse than reading a review when you know that the person hasn’t even tried it. I’ve seen one or two bloggers do that in my time, which is so misrepresented.

Anyway, let’s delve into the review shall we?

1) TELL  ME  ABOUT  THE  HAIR  BOSS

The Hair Boss is a brand created by Lisa Shepherd, a leading hairstylist. Lisa’s aim is to create a hair care ritual involving 5 steps, where you can use different products for each step. This personalised step-by-step regime aims to give your hair optimal results and to give your hair the care and nourishment it needs.

2) WHAT  IS  THE  5  STEP  HAIR  REGIME?

The 5 step hair regime consists of a pre-treatment, followed by ritual cleaning eg shampoo, then conditioning and care, next comes style and lastly colour care. You can choose products for each step to suit your hair needs, a clever concept!

3) ARE  THE  HAIR  BOSS  PRODUCTS  VEGAN  //  CRUELTY-FREE?

Yes, all The Hair Boss products are vegan and cruelty-free, so much so that the brand is Leaping Bunny-approved.

4) WHERE  CAN  I  BUY  THE  HAIR  BOSS  PRODUCTS?

They are available to buy on their own website, ASOS and Superdrug.

5) WHAT  DID  YOU  THINK  OF  THE  PRODUCTS  IN  GENERAL?

Let’s start with the first product I used – The Scalp Scrub. This product I was impressed with. It’s easy to apply, squirt from the bottle, rub with your fingers and apply to the wet hairline, scalp and nape of the neck. I have definitely noticed an improvement in my scalp, as I have quite a flaky scalp, especially at the front of my hair by my curtain bangs, after two treatments with the Scalp Scrub, my scalp looks so much better!

Next came the shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo lathered really nicely and the conditioner was great also. After towel drying my hair, I used the Anti-Static mist, which I sprayed from the middle of my hair to the ends. After hair drying and styling my hair, my hair felt noticeably dry. It felt really hard to straighten and I felt I had to use lots of heat to get it right. Hmm, not a great first impression.

However, I wanted to try them again as I thought my hair wasn’t used to the new products being tried on it? This time, I decided to not use the anti-static spray before using the hairdryer, and because of that, my hair felt super soft after styling.

6) WOULD  YOU  RECOMMEND  THE  HAIR  BOSS  PRODUCTS?

Yes, I would recommend the products. The only one I wouldn’t recommend is the Anti-Static Spray. After process of elimination, I realised the spray wasn’t doing my hair any favours. I will be trying the Gloss Shine soon, I need to make sure I do that one properly before trying it first!

7) HOW  MUCH  DO  THE  HAIR  BOSS  PRODUCTS  COST?

Prices for items range from £7.99 to £19.99. So not overly expensive at all.
